Kids and Tommy conserving butterflies

Anne with an ominously sized and coloured bug

Can't quite reach the waterfall yet

Charlie considers centipedes (is it alliteration if there are 3 difference 'C' sounds?)

Oh, so that's the giant bug that crawled on Anne.

Wazzup?

Uncanny resemblance and colour coordination

Katy and Ryan's wedding on Toronto Island

You turn your back for one minute...

Little rebels, pleased as punch

Elmvale Jungle Zoo. Anne skips and hops when she's really having fun.

Kids will be kids

Wandering among the voracious and indiscriminate nibblers

Exotic zoo animal can't hold a candle to the ones they get to pet

Petting goats was a big hit

Touching a (leopard?) turtle's shell

Pet snake

The tiger cub was a bit nervous

Impala? Maybe?  Stretching awkwardly to reach a snack

Feeding bananas to a very tall giraffe

Momentary fear of a lost hand vanished immediately

The giraffe's tongue was about as long as Anne's arm

In lieu of camel rides

Photo shoot for Grandma's puzzle

Coordinating all six grandchildren was nigh on impossible

Sad babies, but great lighting bounced off of G and G's adjacent van

A rare shot with all six grandkids and not one upset

Roar!

Tommy and Ada wanted to be somewhere (anywhere) else.

Funny Things the Kids Say

Charlie has an incredible sense of smell.  A few minutes after eating something, if you go near Charlie he will say, "I smell oranges."  Or, "Mommy, I smell chocolate."  The other day I made popcorn, put it in my room, then went to check on Charlie who was still not asleep.  Charlie needed a diaper change.  He says, "Mommy, I smell popcorn.  It smells like popcorn in here.  Mommy, were you making popcorn?  Were you, Mom???"  I say, "It doesn't matter since you're going to bed now."  Charlie says, "I wonder why it smells like popcorn in here.  What would make it smell like popcorn in here." (etc., etc.)

Charlie, looking at the first snowfall at the grocery store: "Just like at our house!"

Anne: "Let's go on a W-A-L-K."

Charlie: "I can throw a book at you?"
Daddy: "No Charlie, we don't throw books."
Charlie: "I can throw a little book."

Charlie: "I had some water.  It's in my tummy.  My tummy is big.  I can go to the hospital.  I have a big baby."

Charlie: "The cloud looks like a skunk."
Mom: "Oh I don't think so, I think it looks like waves."
Charlie: "It's a skunk at the beach."

Charlie, referring to a skeleton: "Skelle-bone"

Anne: "Mommy, how was the first person in town born?"

Charlie calls tic-tacs "contacts"

Charlie: "I put my tic-tac in my shoe.  I didn't want to lose it."

Charlie: "Dad, do you know that people don't eat houses?"

Charlie, while in his bed at night, "Is anybody's phone in here?  I heard a bing-bong sound!!"  (Sure enough, Daddy had left his phone in there.)

Charlie said, "Bun and his family were buried under all those breasts.  Bun and his happy happy family."  He meant bras from the laundry.

Mom: "What am I going to do when you're all grown up?"
Charlie: "Die?"

July 2016

Summer time means many weekends spent at the land, and many trips to the market.  It also means the kids are out of school, so Anne tried her first camp: a circus-themed dance/craft camp extravaganza.

The Land with the family:

Ada and Tommy, stumped

The babies splitting some firewood

All baby hats should have ears

Do you think I'm cute yet?

What is marshmallow?  Why is marshmallow?

Quality family time eating corn on the cob

Greta and her girls

So pleased to be here

Also pleased to be here

Anne and Darwyn finding a treasure hunt clue

The elder four cousins, posed

Trimming hair on the construction site

The market was one of our favourite places to visit this summer (especially the farm animals and the cattle auction):

Anne feeds sheep

Charlie feeds goats

Louisa and Charlie feed bunnies

Are these labels adding value? Can you tell which child and which animal it is on your own?

Three year old human feeds three year old holstein

Kids pet cow.  Kids' pet is a cow?

Anne ponied up the cost for riding Honest Abe's wild broncos

Her enjoyment more than justified her expense

Jessie's bridal shower:

The kids got toilet papered.  Perhaps there was alcohol at the shower?

Ice cream with Maddie and Joy:

Charlie had a raspberry sorbet which made him look like a vampire.

Anne and Maddie: two peas in a pod.

Anne's circus-themed summer dance camp with Darwyn and Maddie:
