The Adventures of Anne & Charlie: Now we're laughing!

There have been lots of Charlie milestones, some with video evidence:

Nov 6 - Charlie had his 2-month checkup and his first immunization shots. He cried throughout most of the appointment, even before he got the shots. Weight: 6.22 kg (13 lbs 11 oz, 85th percentile), height: 61 cm (24", 85th percentile), head circumference: 40 cm (75th percentile). Charlie weighs more than Anne did at the same age.
Nov 11 - Video evidence that Charlie can move his arm intentionally:
Dec 16 - Charlie tried the jolly jumper for the first time:
Dec 21 - Charlie laughs for the first time when Anne throws her stuffed kitty on his face. He laughed repeatedly so I had enough time to run and find the video camera.

Charlie is currently doing great. He still wakes up once or twice a night to eat, but he goes right back to sleep so we don't often lose very much sleep. He is getting pickier and picker about where he will sleep, much preferring the quiet darkness of the bedroom to any other location except occasionally a cat nap in the carrier. He smiles a lot, basically whenever anybody gives him any attention at all. He loves the carrier, and he seems to enjoy the jolly Jumper and the Bumbo (both recently introduced). He loves being upright and watching all of the action.

Charlie hates hates hates the car seat. We tried moving from the carriable-style car seat to a convertible car seat to see if he likes it any better. It seems to help a little bit, but he still screams when we get him in, get him out, or drive in the dark. Sometimes he screams for entire other trips just for the fun of it.

Anne is also doing wonderfully. She is really loving preschool, where she does all sorts of fun activities including drum fit, baking, painting, and making music. She brings home lots of artwork.

Anne seems to be going through a jumping phase. She likes to jump off of everything all the time. We are thinking of putting her in gymnastics starting in February.

Funny things Anne says/does (or at least the ones I can remember right now):

"Mommy, there's lots of snow outside so we should be careful not to bonk other cars."
"Is Charlie going to grow up in a couple of days?"
"The baby is out of your tummy so you can pick me up now."
Anne slept in a big-girl bed at Gramma and Grampa B's house. At the end of her nap, she walked out of the room and into the family room where we were sitting. She was wearing several pairs of very colourful underwear over her head and arms.
Anne sings The Wheels on the Bus and makes her kitty do the hand motions.

Interesting events of the past month and a half:

Possibly because of our cute new kid, everyone decided to help us out by building things for us in the past couple months. Grampa B built us some new shelves in the garage and installed a hard water faucet in our kitchen, Grampa G and Gus fixed our humidistat, and Grampa G, Gus, Greta, Grampa B, and Jeff (editor: Jeff was barely involved) all made an (intentional) hole in our wall between the kitchen and family room and painted the family room. It looks awesome!

A few weeks ago all of us, except for Charlie, got that nasty stomach bug that is going around. Anne got it the worst and threw up quite a lot. It was awful to watch. A couple days later both Jeff and I got it at the same time. We had to call in the reserves (Gramma and Grampa G) to help us look after our kids.
Jeff took Anne to see her first movie in at the movie theatre. It was a special showing of Frozen for a food drive event, and there were lots of activities and Santa was there. Anne sat through the whole movie and seemed to enjoy it. The main character's name was Anna.
Aunt Lo came to visit for four days. We spent a lot of time hanging out with Aunt Lo, and Lo and I even got to go out for a massage. Also, we had the extended family over for a dinner with Lo and we did a Secret Santa present exchange.
Jeff's company had a Christmas party for the kids, held at an indoor playground. Anne disappeared in the play structure for about an hour and had a great time.
A couple days ago a hawk killed a squirrel under our bird feeder. It hung out in the backyard for hours. You can see the squirrel in its talons in this photo.
Yesterday we all went to the neighbour's house for a Christmas party. It was wonderful to hang out with actual adults for a change, and Anne loved hanging out with the kids. There was even a surprise visit from Santa. Anne, surprisingly, sat on his knee and answered a couple of questions:

Charlie

Charlie's second-smallest toe on his right foot curls under funnily. When he was born, the same toe on his left foot did the same thing, but it seemed to fix itself after a little while.
