Gus, Greta, and Max came to visit us this past weekend. We played a new card game called Innovation all weekend and it was great. The babies were surprisingly obliging. Gus also went crazy with the macro lens and took some awesome photos of Max. My favourite is below. There are more posted on Gus and Greta's blog at http://gutoskijames.blogspot.com/
Yesterday we took Anne for her two-week checkup at the doctor's. Anne weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 6 oz at just 15 days old! (She was born at 7 lbs 1 oz.) The scale at the doctor's office might have been a bit off, however. Today at the breastfeeding clinic they weighed Anne at only 8 lbs 1 oz. Either way, she is getting quite large and it is quite evident in both sets of cheeks! More up-to-date photos (of the facial cheeks) will be coming soon.
Today Anne had her first cry-free bath. Mom and Dad may have finally managed how to keep her happy during this traumatic event. The current strategy, as proposed by Grandpa B, is to make it a spa-like experience. This includes lots of big fluffy towels and a bathroom that has been heated and steamed up by two showers and a space heater aimed at Anne's tub. Next time perhaps we will add a sounds-of-nature audio track and paint her nails.
Today we also took Anne out on several errands. We went to 4 different places over about 3.5 hours. Anne was a little angel the whole day and barely protested at all as we repeatedly took her out of her car seat, lugged her around, and put her back in again. We have the best baby ever.
